Did you know that approximately $13 billion dollars is spent every year celebrating Valentine’s Day? That’s 180 million cards, 198 million roses, 58 million pounds of chocolate, and 36 million heart-shaped boxes. But, as anyone who has ever given a gift knows, the recipient’s heart-felt appreciation and mutual affection is priceless!

With that in mind, the Stewardship Capital team treated 25 of our widowed and single clients to a Valentine’s Day lunch last week. Our second annual event was held at Los Cabos in Independence where we shared flowers, candy, great conversation, and a delicious meal together. With the desire to honor our clients and let them know how precious they are, Valentine’s Day has become one of our favorite celebrations.

As much as we enjoy it, you should know this idea didn’t begin with us. Ron Finke received it from his fellow study group member, Charles W. (Bud) Bruton, Jr., of Downingtown, Pennsylvania.

As a business built and managed on the principles found in the Bible, we also take our direction (and our ideas) from God. Psalm 68:5 states that a “father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.”

God celebrated love and presents first by sending His son, Jesus – a gift of immeasurable value. It is that generous, gracious gift to the world that motivates us to offer more than just roses and heart-shaped boxes on Valentine’s Day. We want to offer our time and our attention, making this day devoted specifically to Love in all its forms. It seems the perfect opportunity to remind those entrusted to our care, “You are loved beyond measure and never alone.”
